Independence City Council
No new fees or taxes without a vote of the citizens.
Riverview Park stays open.
Vote for Brent DeHart for Independence City Council.
I have the experience to serve you, and the ethics to be accountable to you.
Where Brent Stands
NO NEW TAXES WITHOUT YOUR VOTE.
Independence voters turned down a levy in 2024- less than two years ago- to pay for the Library, the Museum, and Parks. The Council did not listen. It's okay to go back out to the voters and try to make your case again to get a different result. It's not okay to bypass the voters because the voters are the "problem," as I saw recently on an incumbent's social media comment. I pledge to never vote for a new fee or tax without it going to the voters.
OUR PARKS BELONG TO THE PEOPLE.
Riverview Parks Stays Open.
The Council and Mayor should never have allowed the City Manager to fence off Riverview Park. It's the lifeblood of the City and our downtown businesses. I will work to ensure Riverview Park stays open. Dog Park is closed off. We need to demand an answer to WHY. The City is not saving money, and the public they work for are prevented from exercising their dogs there. This is transparent punishment and blackmail to get the citizens to vote for their new fee. Parks maintenance may need cut. Okay. Levels of service may need to be lessened. Okay. Fencing us out without demonstrating any cost savings- not worthy of the public trust. Not okay. Vote for someone you can trust- Brent DeHart
